The HEARTS EU Project and Its Initial Results on Fragmented High-Energy Heavy-Ion Single-Event Effects Testing
/ García Alía, Rubén (CERN) ; Waets, Andreas (CERN ; Zurich U.) ; Coronetti, Andrea (CERN ; IES, Montpellier) ; Bilko, Kacper (CERN ; Jean Monnet U.) ; Delrieux, Marc (CERN) ; Emriskova, Natalia (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi (CERN) ; Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Johnson, Eliott (CERN) ; Klimek, Karolina (CERN) et al.
We perform single-event effect (SEE) tests with well-characterized fully fragmented (i.e., beyond Bragg peak) high-energy heavy-ion beams and compare the results with those expected from conventional, mono-linear energy transfer (mono-LET) measurements, showing a satisfactory level of agreement between the two. This compliance paves the way for the exploitation of simulation tools for accurately quantifying the ion fragmentation impact on SEE rates for both ground-level testing conditions and space galactic cosmic-ray (GCR) environments, with electronics operating behind significant thicknesses of shielding. Development of a ReBCO Non/Metal-Insulated 40 T Solenoid for a Muon Collider
/ Bordini, B (CERN) ; Accettura, C (CERN) ; Bertarelli, A (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Dudarev, A (CERN) ; Hafiz, M A (CERN) ; Kolehmainen, A (CERN) ; Mulder, T (CERN) ; Rinaldoni, D (CERN) ; Sanda, F (CERN) et al.
In the quest to explore the fundamental properties of particles at the energy frontier, the International Muon Collider Collaboration (IMCC) has made significant progress in the conceptual design study of a Muon Collider (MC). Central to this effort is the development of the various MC's magnet systems, particularly the Ultra-High-Field (UHF) solenoids needed for the MC final cooling stage. [...]

In the initial framework of HL-LHC project, a 90 mm Nb-Ti single aperture quadrupole short model with a gradient of 120 T/m at 1.9 K, has been designed, manufactured and firstly tested at 4.2 K as part of a collaboration between CERN and CEA. This magnet called MQYYM has been recently tested for the first time at 1.9 K and used as a reference magnet for the commissioning of the new CEA Paris-Saclay cryogenic test facility STAARQ (standing for test station for quadrupole accelerator magnets). Analytical Estimation of Quench Protection Limits in Insulated, Non-Insulated, and Metal-Insulated ReBCO Accelerator Dipoles and Quadrupoles

Future particle accelerators require high-field dipole and quadrupole magnets to guide the particles inside the collider ring. Magnets based on High-Temperature Superconductors (HTS) allow operation with higher magnetic field and higher operation temperature compared with the Low-Temperature Superconductor (LTS) based options. The PSI Positron Production (P3 or P-cubed) experiment is a e+ source and capture system with the potential to increase by an order of magnitude the state-of-the-art e+ yield normalized to the drive linac energy, a highly desirable goal for future colliders. The experiment is framed in the FCC-ee injector study and will be hosted at SwissFEL, located at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. [...]

The Fusillo project at CERN aims to design and build a demonstrator magnet with multi-harmonic corrected fields in a 90°, curved, Canted-Cosine-Theta magnet. Two subscale magnets are built with 30° bending, about 1/30 of the demonstrator conductor length, and increased current to reach coil stresses equivalent to those of the demonstrator. [...]
