ILC Damping Ring Design Studies at the Cockcroft Institute

Abstract: We report results of design studies for the ILC damping rings, including optics design of the lattice, and technical design of the vacuum system in the arcs and wiggler sections. The distribution of synchrotron radiation power from the wiggler has been calculated. An impedance model has been developed for the components covered by the design work to date; this model has been used to estimate the threshold of longitudinal single-bunch instability. Studies of certain other beam dynamics effects, including dynamic aperture, and low emittance tuning, have been performed.
