New high field and large-aperture quadrupole magnets for the low-beta inner triplets (Q1, Q2, Q3) have been built and tested as part of the high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). These new quadrupole magnets are based on Nb3Sn superconducting technology. [...]

Compatibility and combination of world W-boson mass measurements
/ LHC-TeV MW Working Group Collaboration
The compatibility of W-boson mass measurements performed by the ATLAS, LHCb, CDF, and D0 experiments is studied using a coherent framework with theory uncertainty correlations. The measurements are combined using a number of recent sets of parton distribution functions (PDF), and are further combined with the average value of measurements from the Large Electron-Positron collider. [...]

Effects of High Fluence Particle Irradiation on Germanium-on-Silicon Photodiodes
/ Olanterä, Lauri (CERN) ; Scarcella, Carmelo (CERN) ; Lalović, Milana (CERN ; Belgrade U.) ; Détraz, Stéphane (CERN) ; Pandey, Awanish (CERN) ; Prousalidi, Theoni (CERN ; Natl. Tech. U., Athens) ; Sandven, Ulrik (CERN) ; Sigaud, Christophe (CERN) ; Soós, Csaba (CERN) ; Troska, Jan (CERN)
Waveguide-Integrated Germanium-on-Silicon (Ge-on-Si) photodiodes are integral components in silicon photonics and understanding their radiation tolerance is important for applications that intend to use silicon photonics in harsh radiation environments. Here we report the results of high fluence particle irradiation tests on Ge-on-Si photodiodes. [...]

The maximal frequency of cosmic gravitons
/ Giovannini, Massimo (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; CERN)
We show that the maximal frequency of cosmic gravitons must not exceed the THz domain. From a classical viewpoint, both in conventional inflationary scenarios and in bouncing models the largest frequency of the spectrum overshoots the MHz band even if its specific signature is model dependent. [...]

Fuzzy bounces
/ Giovannini, Massimo (CERN ; INFN, Milan Bicocca)
We observe that the energy and the enthalpy densities can be smeared by two fudge factors that are constrained by the contracted Bianchi identities. Depending on the analytic properties of the smearing functions the underlying cosmological solutions belong to two physically different classes, namely the bounces of the scale factor and the curvature bounces. [...]

Long-sought isomer turns out to be the ground state of $^{76}$Cu

Isomers close to the doubly magic nucleus $^{78}$Ni ($Z=28$, $N=50$) provide essential information on the shell evolution and shape coexistence far from stability. The existence of a long-lived isomeric state in $^{76}$Cu has been debated for a long time. [...]

One of the critical aspects for the accurate determination of neutron capture cross sections when combining time-of-flight and total energy detector techniques is the characterization and control of systematic uncertainties associated to the measuring devices. In this work we explore the most conspicuous effects associated to harsh count rate conditions: dead-time and pile-up effects. [...]
