Review of coupled betatron motion parametrizations and applications to strongly coupled lattices / Vanwelde, Marion (U. Brussels (main)) ; Hernalsteens, Cédric (CERN ; U. Brussels (main)) ; Bogacz, S. Alex (Jefferson Lab) ; Machida, Shinji (Rutherford) ; Pauly, Nicolas (U. Brussels (main))
The coupling of transverse motion is a natural occurrence in particle accelerators, either in the form of a residual coupling arising from imperfections or originating by design from strong systematic coupling fields. [...]

Application of Copper Thermal Spraying for Electrical Joints between Superconducting Nb$_3$Sn Cables / D'Auria, Vincenzo (PSI, Villigen) ; Bruzzone, Pierluigi (PSI, Villigen) ; Meyer, Mickael Sebastian (CERN) ; Castro, Enrique Rodriguez (CERN ; Carlos III U., Madrid) ; Sgobba, Stefano (CERN)
This manuscript reports on the application of copper thermal spraying in the manufacturing process of an electrical connection between Nb3Sn cables for superconducting magnets of fusion reactors. The joint is realized through diffusion bonding of the sprayed coating of the two cables. [...]

FOCUS: Fast Monte-CarlO Approach to Coherence of Undulator Sources / Siano, Mirko (U. We present Fast Monte-CarlO approach to Coherence of Undulator Sources (FOCUS), a new GPU-based code to compute the transverse coherence of X-ray radiation from undulator sources. The code relies on scaled dimension- less quantities and analytic expressions of the electric field emitted by electrons in an undulator. [...]

LINAC4 Laser Profile and Emittance Meter Commissioning / Goldblatt, Aurélie (CERN) ; Andreassen, Odd (CERN) ; Boorman, Gary (JAI, UK) ; Bosco, Alessio (JAI, UK) ; Gibson, Stephen (JAI, UK) ; Hofmann, Thomas (Unlisted, CH) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Tagg, Joseph (CERN)
The CERN LINAC4 is now equipped with two laser profile and emittance meters, a basically non destructive measurement of the transverse beam profile, not limited by the beam power density. The light of a pulsed laser is trans- ported through optical fibers and focused into the 160 MeV/c $H^{-}$ beam. [...]

In a gas jet monitor, a supersonic gas curtain is injected into the beam pipe and interacts with the charged particle beam. The monitor exploits fluorescence induced by beam-gas interactions, thus providing a minimally invasive transverse profile measurement. [...]

Fast Spill Monitor Studies for the SPS Fixed Target Beams / Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Arrutia Sota, Pablo Andreas (CERN) ; Belohrad, David (CERN) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Calvo Giraldo, Eva (CERN) ; Effinger, Ewald (CERN) ; Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Kain, Verena (CERN) ; Martin Nieto, Miguel (CERN) ; Mazzoni, Stefano (CERN) et al.
At the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) the proton beam is supplied to the fixed target experiments in the North Area facility (NA) via a slow extraction process, taking place at 400 GeV. The monitoring of the spill quality during the extraction, lasting 4.8 seconds with the present SPS setup, is of high interest for minimising beam losses and providing the users with uniform proton-on-target rates. Detection of a DC Electric Field Using Electro-Optical Crystals / Cristiano, Antonio (CERN ; Huddersfield U.) ; Hill, Richard (Huddersfield U.) ; Krupa, Michal (CERN)
Standard beam position monitors (BPM) are intrinsically insensitive to beams with no temporal structure, so-called DC beams, which many CERN experiments rely on. We therefore propose a novel detection technique in which the usual BPM electrodes are replaced with electro-optic (EO) crystals. [...]

Electro-Optical BPM Development for High Luminosity LHC / Arteche, Alberto (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Gibson, Stephen (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Lefèvre, Thibaut (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN)
An Electro-Optic Beam Position Monitor (EO-BPM) is being developed as a high-frequency (up to 10 GHz) diagnostic for crabbing and Head-Tail intra-bunch detection at the HL-LHC. Following an earlier prototype at the SPS that demonstrated single-pickup signals, an upgraded design of an interferometric EO-BPM has been beam-tested at the HiRadMat facility for validation and characterisation studies.
